3C Metal Designs Transportation Skid for Oceanbird Wing 560 Sail

At 3C Metal France, we are currently designing and overseeing the fabrication of a specialized transportation skid for Oceanbird’s Wing 560 sail, as part of the ongoing wind propulsion upgrade for the vehicle carrier Tirranna, commissioned by Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

This DNV-certified skid is engineered to ensure the safe handling, transport, and positioning of the 40-meter rigid sail, which forms a key component of the Wing 560 system. The system is designed to harness wind energy to supplement engine power, contributing to a meaningful reduction in fuel consumption and emissions, and supporting the maritime industry’s shift toward more sustainable operations.

This project builds on our earlier involvement with Tirranna, where we successfully delivered and installed a 40-ton tilting base to support the Wing 560 system. Our continued engagement reflects both our technical expertise and our ability to support complex, multi-phase retrofit projects.

Through initiatives like this, we remain committed to delivering high-quality, engineered solutions that enable our clients to improve operational efficiency while advancing toward cleaner, more sustainable energy practices in the maritime sector.
