At 3C Metal Asia, we completed the interface and handling package for the Kinetic Blowout Stopper (K-BOS®), an Emergency Subsea Isolation Device (E-SID), onboard the Noble Viking drillship, as part of preparations for the vessel’s upcoming drilling operations in Papua New Guinea for Noble Corporation and TotalEnergies.

The full turnkey scope covered engineering, fabrication, class approval (ABS and DNV), and offshore installation support to facilitate the integration of the standalone system onboard. The K-BOS®/E-SID system was designed to provide an additional barrier to reduce blowout risk during operations.
The scope was delivered through a combination of detailed engineering, onshore prefabrication, and offshore integration activities. Engineering work included concept development, clash and clearance assessments for the lifting, handling and installation of the K-BOS®/E-SID system, as well as calculations for deck support and seafastening configurations.

The offshore installation was completed as planned, with close coordination between engineering, fabrication and onshore teams throughout the integration work. The project was delivered through close collaboration between the project teams, supported by personnel across engineering, fabrication and offshore operations.
The full package will be redeployed for future rig operations with TotalEnergies offshore Sabah, Malaysia.

Through this project, 3C Metal Asia demonstrated its ability to deliver engineered solutions for complex offshore applications, combining detailed engineering, fabrication, class approval and offshore integration expertise to deliver a turnkey project scope.
